  • I obtained my PhD under the supervision of Professor Micheal Rabbat from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McGill University. The title of my thesis is "Efficient distributed consensus in wireless sensor networks".

Research Interests

  • Distributed randomized algorithms
  • Bayesian inference
  • Statistical natural language processing

Research Experience

  • Postdoctoral Fellow, Computer Networks Laboratory, McGill University, June 2013 -- July 2014
       – Currently working on a project in collaboration with Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC) to develop a distributed tracking algorithm for underwater acoustic sensor networks
       – Used data exploration and statistical modelling techniques on sensor data collected by DRDC

Published 1 conference paper; another conference paper in review

  • Research Assistant, Computer Networks Laboratory, McGill University, September 2007 -- May 2013
       – Developed fast and energy efficient decentralized algorithms for data aggregation in wireless sensor networks
       – Designed decentralized sequential Monte Carlo methods (based on Bayesian inference and particle filters)
       – Applied the developed methods to the distributed target tracking problem to estimate the location and speed of a highly maneuvering target in a decentralized fashion
       – Analyzed the convergence and scalability properties of the proposed algorithms by conducting numerical experiments and formulating theoretical bounds

Published 2 IEEE journal articles, 8 conference papers; 1 book chapter accepted to be published in a Springer-Verlag book (all first author, peer-reviewed)

  • Research Assistant, Bilkent University, September 2004 -- July 2007
       – Proposed a method for tuning parameters of controllers in computer networks, designed switching controllers
       – Implemented designed controllers in the discrete event simulator ns-2, which is based on C++ and Tcl

Published 1 invited journal article, 3 peer-reviewed conference papers (all first author)
